Tips on Streaming Game Development (on Twitch)

I stream my development almost every day. (Probably will start streaming here in about 15 minutes to tell you the truth) It’s a lot of fun and you meet a lot of cool people. However, I only get around 10 viewers at a time and only 4 of them are active in the chat.

Then I check some other game dev streams and they have around 250 viewers with a fantastic community blowing up the chat. I asked one of the streamers what he was doing right. He said he had no idea and that this was his second stream! So what was I doing wrong considering that the only thing different from his stream and mine was the game we were working on and he had a webcam in the bottom right corner.

You weren’t doing anything wrong. Its just that the other guy was doing everything better than you.

Haha, okay well then how do I do what I do better?

Be creative. Make your stream different than the others

Hi

I’m sorry but I don’t really understand this obsession, you seem to be focused on the audience, being watched, being noticed, being famous. When I have 0 download per week, it isn’t the end of the world to me. I can understand that you’d like to get some attention but it seems to be your biggest motivation, I find it a bit superficial.

There’s always someone who can post pictures of their toenail clippings and have the internet hang on their every move, while there’s millions of people who are producing mind bendingly wonderful stuff and don’t have a single follower. That’s just The Internet. It’s best not to worry about it.

Focus on your own motivations and goals. What motivates you to want to stream, and why does your follower count bother you?
