Thoughts on TheNewBoston's Social Network

Well guys I just saw yesterday that this became public if you haven’t heard Bucky from TheNewBoston has created an open source social networking site: http://buckysroom.com/ There is also if you guys want to support the project and view more details about it click here : http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/340674/ Also I am very curious of what you think about the idea of an open source project of this type, I know this is not completely java related but I figured there’s got to be more than just me who has learned some java from him. The website is currently in a beta stage and also there is much more view able if you create an account

never heard of him or it
and its pointless

if not even google+ can make facebook users leave/switch, small fish dont even have to try

Don’t really see the point, both google+ and facebook have java APIs, and and this social network will never surpass the amount of users. Using the business ideal of assuming all customers are stupid, ‘open source’ doesn’t matter because most people aren’t programmers, let alone programmers interested in this kind of thing.

I watched all 87 of his Java videos, and can’t say I learned much. Really a dumb waste of time on my part. Eventually I bought a few books and learned 100 times more stuff from the first two chapters than TNB taught in all his Java videos. Sorta just stopped checking up on what he was doing, so I haven’t heard of this. Don’t have a Facebook/Twitter/whatever account anyways so I doubt I’ll be joining this. Too many social networks already, reminds me of this xkcd.

I did the new boston for a week maybe. I think I learned more about his life than Java from him.

Never watched TheNewBoston, always found books better. Sadly, no book for libgdx :emo:
