The Game That Time Forgot

Interesting video about a man’s “13 year” development cycle story and the DO NOTs of game design. I think this could be a nice watch for some of us hopeful indie developers wanting to make games.

To be honest though; my personal gut-feeling based opinion though is if the guy took 13 years to make a basic 2d puzzle-platformer, he was probably “going it wrong”, either not really taking the project seriously or lacking the maturity or cognitive abilities to do such a task effectively. Of course, he indirectly admits that in the video. I just think it was far worse than what he admits.

That or in his 13 years of development he took several 6 months+ breaks and still bunched it all together at 13 years of development. But, that’s just my pessimistic outlook on the story-behind-the-story. I may be wrong.

Yeah, I just saw that video from browsing #gamedev and #screenshotsaturday on twitter.

Kinda off topic, but your links aren’t working…

mhmm, works fine for me?

Yeah it’s fine for me too. You have something blocking it it looks like.

Hey, it could have been worse, like the guy didn’t actually finish the game at all.

If I can have a penny for every time a developer didn’t finish a game…

Very true!

Ok, I played for 5-10 minutes and I think this is the worst game ever.

13 years well spend, eh.

Maybe this plays into what we were all discussing here?

Disabled ‘HTTPS everywhere’, works fine, thanks!

13 years, sounds like a marketing ploy. I bet it took a few months
