Reality Interactive has made available a TGA image reader plugin for ImageIO. 8, 15, 16, 24, and 32 bit compressed (RLE) or uncompressed, true color or color mapped targa images are supported.

Is there something similar for writing Targa (.tga) files?
I tried using it, but cannot get it to work.

I am using Java 1.5.0_06 and the “imageio_tga_1.1.0.jar” is in the classpath.
Any suggestions? I have the newest jdk but the bug says something about being fixed in 1.1beta!? How do I install that into the jdk?
What are the motivations of using the TGA format?
I have made available additional source (via the RealityInteractive website) that contains a workaround. The source of the plugin itself does not need to be changed.
Perhaps you should make an enquiry (on the bug itself?) as to which version the Java bug is fixed in.
