Textured terrain code

Everyone okay to include that in the toolkit ?

I’ll take a look at it this weekend.

In fact I was just toying around with the terrain code in combination with textures. So if it uses original xith terrain code, I would welcome the inclusion. If it is some other implementation I would like to incorporate the possible optimations into the xith terrain, but I would like to avoid two different terrain implementations in the toolkit, so please wait a little.

My goal is to reacvtivate the existing terrain code and write a litte howto/tutorial on using it in XIN.

Looks like a nice and clean usecase of the xith terrain code. If you don’t mind, I’ll do the conversion and add it to the cvs.

Amos, did you contact the author of this regarding the toolkit addition? If not, we migth first ask him :slight_smile: Do you have any contact to mike or his e-mail?

Which license does this code carry?

One source reproduces the original Xith3D copyright notice with an addition “modified by”. The other source does not contain any statement. I think this means “Take it and enoy” ;), but I think it would be polite to contact him about. Btw. there is an email in the source, so if Amos has not contacted him, I’ll do.

I just ported the code and I must say, that there is not much in. Also it’s quite “hackish” code. I don’t think it’s worth the addition anymore.
I rather create a terrain example with a skydome, trees and foliage, so users have a real start.
