tank defence

hey,

I have been working on a TD for a while, its call “tank defence”(as said in the subject). it is not finished, but I think that it is playable right now.

there are screen in the attachments.

I have sound when it is in applet viewer, but in the browser I dont for some reason…

P.S: the instructions dont work, I am working ont hat ;). Basically, u can build towers by clicking an placing them. You cant place them on the path, the circle around them is their range, and when an enemy reaches your city u lose health. Also every 5 waves I think they get faster stronger, more health, things like that.

Be suer to give me thoughts and suggestions.

did I do something wrong? cuase its been a few days, and no1 has posted…

I’ll take a shot at it.

I played it, but couldn’t get far at all. I simply couldn’t buy enough towers to take down the tanks fast enough.

I also had a hard time seeing the “towers” (red blocks) do anything to the tanks. I think I could see a stray line here and there that was supposed to be the tower firing, but I couldn’t be sure. The game just moved too fast in general.

Looks like you have the beginnings of a tower defense game, it just needs some good polishing.

Also, I couldn’t get sound to work either.

yeah, I must have just gotten used to knowing hte perfect places to put the towers, Ill slow it down some

yeah, I could probably make it appear for a second or so? would that help u think?

I survived until the wave 71. Nice game! ;D Could you rather use an icon representing a tower rather than a red square?

yes, I just dint have any graphics for it,a nd I figured that was not important until it was finished, so I just used a red square. But I set it up, so that all I have to do is change an image file for it to be another icon

It is ok for me. It works, it is the most important thing, you can plan to improve the appearance later.

Oner reason that you haven’t had too many comments yet is because of this. Polish is just as important to attract JGO members as it is real customers. Well, maybe a little bit less important, but the reason I didn’t rush to play this was just because it didn’t really look interesting to me, to be honest. That and because I always read JGO while I am at work. :slight_smile: I still haven’t played Revenge of the Titans yet, if it makes you feel any better.

I don’t think you should worry with graphics right away, neither with feedback .

If I were you, I would focus on the rest, and when you have a fully playable game, worry about graphics, and then feedback .

But if you want feedback before final graphics, I advise you to find some temporary sprites. You can find out there a lot of nice sprites ripped from old Snes, Genesis games .

No I don’t, I just think that you shouldn’t expect a lot of JGO’ers to be jazzed about playing your game until it looks awesome. If I were you I’d just keep working on it yourself. Then when it’s impressive to others, show it again. :slight_smile:

Wow I filled every green space with a pink tower and I couldn’t lose

I found it pretty difficult to “buy” and place towers. I often had to click many times to make anything happen.

Demonpants and teletubo pretty much nails it. I imagine it could be quite interesting game in 2 weeks then :slight_smile:

ull lose eventuall ;), that much is positive… but later I will add upgrades/different types of towers.
