I’m just switching my development at work to Subversion from Visual Source Safe - which REALLY blows chunks.

Subversion so far is a huge improvement.

We’ve been using it for almost a year now (if I recall correctly), and I agree it’s a huge improvement over CVS. Still has a few painful quirks at times – but nowhere near as painful as CVS (never had a loss of code in subversion).

Tom Lord (of Arch fame) isn’t very complimentary about svn though…

Most new development projects are done in subversion and that use is accelerating.

The one thing that we generally hate about it is having to create the extra trunk, tag, etc. directories.
