Starcraft 2

I rarely play AAA games, but Starcraft 2 is worthy of an exception. Also, been doing too much game dev with no game playing.
I decided to buy it about a month ago, and I’ve been impressed.
Of course it was released last year… so I may be a bit late to the party

Been mostly playing online.

What amazes me with this game is how polished it is. Everything is just so perfect. The AI is pretty cool, never any issues with multiplayer, and graphics are awesome.

It’s too bad I bought it during summer time, everybody are tanned except me :\

Anyway, I hope I’m not going to vanish into some world like WoW, trying to keep it casual, but playing it is pretty fun. Anyone else playing it?

I played through the campaign and did some ladder climbing when it came out. Ever since I’m starting it up once every 2 weeks or so to play some custom games (mainly tower defence and dota kind of maps). It’s indeed very polished and it’s a great way to kick back for an hour or so and think about something totally different

The only bad point, I have found is that the campaign is far too short ;D (if you compare to Warcraft III or Starcraft 1, it is /3 or /4)

I have even played it on an Atom/Ion PC… it was incredible !!! FPS was not so bad and graphics was good.
For sure, they have done a really good job.

I did like the singleplayer. It was pretty idiotproof though, maybe too idiotproof. The last mission was the only tough mission. I spend maybe a whole weekend playing it, 3 full nights. I think that’s fine for a singleplayer, spend maybe 12-14 hours on it. It does also have “challenges” and many other modes beside standard multiplayer. So the replay value is huge.

And talking about “replay”, the option of actually replaying multiplayer matches is awesome! If you do a 1v1 online, and lose, you can go back to the game, watch an replay of it with vision of what your opponent is doing, and learn from it.

After playing Starcraft 1 for 10 years, I have not yet started SC2.
Just got this new free version. I have seen a lot of matches but only played, like 1; So you’re not alone =P

Well its only the terran campaign, the other (atleast 2 parts) are still coming out… Part of why I still wait =D

Well it’s Blizzard, I expect nothing less.

But I’m actually gonna play Diablo 3 pretty early. Which is uncharacteristic for me, since I am a scifi guy and not so much fantasy =P

Part of the problem is, to be competitive online in SC you have to play A LOT, and I just don’t want to invest that time anymore for one game.
So I’m just gonna play the campaign once it’s all out.

It’s definitely a good game but I’m getting frustrated with how AAA single-player games require online access and multi-GB patches.

Starcraft 2 for example… I play it infrequently (every month or two max), and I want to play it single-player. I start it up, then wait for hours while it downloads GB after GB (patching…) on my crappy internet connection. Of course there is no option to skip this download.

Grrrrr…

Unplug your ethernet, you will be allowed to play offline.
