So I'm Doing This Research Paper...

Hi everyone, oh hey it’s my first post ;D.

Right so I’m a Junior in high school and we have to type up a research paper worth a ton of points.
We got to pick our own topics and I came up with “Java game programming will become more competitive with
C/C++/C# in the future.” Now this could be wrong and I need to fortify my wording but from the research
I’ve done so far it seems like I could form a decent argument.

I was wondering if anyone knew any really good points that I could bring up. So far I’m arguing how Java is growing
and the demand for Java game programmers is growing, the pros and cons of Java compared to C++, and lots of smaller
points here and there.

If anyone read this post up to here thanks for your time, and I hope to one day become an asset to this forum and not a liability.

I tried bringing up a discussion about the importance of Steve Jobs versus Dennis Ritchie in class, when both died and only one was talked about.
This was in a project, where we had to find very important persons, that impacted many people for the better.

In this debate, even though I was being as noob-friendly as possible (no using tech-jargon, and lots of explaining), nobody understood what the heck I was saying, or why it is important to the current world of IT.

I fear you may encounter the same problem, seeing as end-users (especially high-school kids in America (sorry guys, but that’s my experience)) hardly gives a crap about what technology is being used over what, and what the benefits are. It’s all just voodoo to them.

Good luck on your project though - be very careful about your explanations :slight_smile:

To make it easy, list all bad things Java has and try to conclude that they’re no matter - because the rest are equal or better in Java.

Note: it’s my 1000th post, upgraded to Neuromancer 8)

A very good point getting people to care about your topic. All the reasons I’d give you would be boring to everyone not on this forum. :slight_smile:

Maybe be like “Minecraft and Runescape were made in Java, and Minecraft has changed the world of game development.” Or something. Then joke about getting blown up by creepers. People will love that. :stuck_out_tongue:
