SLICK2D Indie game | SAMPLE ASSIGNMENT NEEDED

Hello, I am a 13 year old programmer with a little under a year of experience. Currently, I have made a few mediocre games, and realize that I need a team project to work on. I would like to create a simple game in which you are in a middle school, and there are a series of themed mini-games. Some Ideas so far are:

Locker jam- Your locker jammed, press buttons repeatedly to un-jam.
Paper pickup- You dropped your papers, press the appropriate letter to pick up a paper each.
Rush to class- You are late to class, rush down the hallway and dodge people.

So for just a mini-game game, I would say we would work about a month on it. I want this game to be either 8, 16, or 32 bit, just to give the 2d game some feeling, and make our rendering job easier.

But, I am only 1 person, who handles threads, updates, basic layout of our code, that sort of thing. I need someone who could do at least one of the following:

Graphics Specialist- A person who can help with rendering, and pixel art. As a bonus, if you could do pixel art, that would be great as well. I just need a person to craft all of the code that renders.
Programmer- A person that has the same job as me, to program all of the logic, and updating. This is the core of the game.
Sound Specialist- A person who makes sound files (using preferably audacity). You get to make all of the sounds like being hurt, etc.

I handle Programming, and some graphics.

EDIT: Removed uncalled for text.

All that I ask from all is that you contribute to the idea, and have some experience. I you are still learning, don’t sweat it! I can teach you, and then together we can make this game!

SPECS:
Must use eclipse
Must use email primarily
Must know common knowledge of java (The more the merrier, but you only need a little experience)
The ability to work together
AND MOST IMPORTANT : Please email me (wesley.laferriere@gmail.com) a sample project! Assignment: In slick2d or lwjgl (if you can do lwjgl, you will pick slick right up), write a game where a ship shoots projectiles at you, and you must dodge all of them. There should be a menu with a play button, and a game. If you die, there should be a death screen, and restart the game.

Interested? All I need is this application posted on this form or to my email wesley.laferriere@gmail.com :
NAME
AGE
TIME PROGRAMMING (aka the time you have been coding in java (must be >= 10 months))
SKYPE NAME (we will coordinate through skype and email, speaking of which…)
EMAILING ADDRESS

I LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH YOU!

What does an updater do?
Its sounds like something that should happen automaticly
when you’re talking about “a class or 2 - rendering engine”, i dont think people will be convinced about your expertise.

I have never heard of anyone that split up jobs into rendering/logic. Sure, there’s going to be people who are more experienced with GPU work, but everybody should know how to draw things.
“Rendering Engine”? Are you going to write your own opengl wrapper?

I like your ambition kid, how long have you been programming, just wondering??? btw, im only fourteen

I would have quoted this, but I decided to be more thorough.

Also, Riven’s post on the same matter.

Here is the compressed version along with points addressed at some of the responses given to previous posts like this one.

  1. Such projects attract n00bs.
  2. As Riven stated, a bunch of n00bs never get anything done.
  3. Whether you are a n00b or not is irrelevant to whether n00bs will ruin your project.
  4. To keep n00bs away, make sure they have to show previous works, and example code. Maybe even test them if you are still unsure. (As a side note, read this)
  5. Saying “not much experience required” is a no-no. n00bs swarm to this sort of stuff.
  6. The best way, and IMO the only way, to make team projects work is if you have face-to-face contact (not via internet) for lots of the time.
  7. There are many projects set out like this on this board. Look at them and see how they turn out.
  8. Thinking you are an exception is a sign of you being a n00b. I am yet to see a project set out like this even start, let alone finish.

I cant, i can barely even program b/c of school :’( but i will pop back in every now and again to see how your project is doing ;D

Don’t get yourself down, you have your whole life ahead of you to create things. Just remember to never stop programming and i would suggest to learn a few more languages (i dabble in a few but java is my favorite). I am in no way an expert in this field and it is to my experience that if you never stop, you’ll be great

The philosopher Jean Paul Sartre explains:

“Hell is other people.”

Bear this in mind before embarking on working in a distributed team with hazy goal and no-one in the driving seat.

Sorry for bringing up a closed thread also, but why is Eclipse needed for creation anyway?

Same page? You would all use a java compiler, no? Wouldn’t that result in you being on the same page? I just use a text editor, I don’t see how doing so makes it hard for me to work with anyone who uses Eclipse.

I’m sorry but who are you to tell me that I’m not allowed to comment on this thread? I dont mean to provoke a fight and should have probably kept this to myself, but you are the one necroing month old threads and then tell others to hush. Doesn’t make much sense, now does it?
