I’ve noticed over the past few days that, near the top of the webpage beside the link “Show unread posts since epoch.” it updates and says how many new posts there have been, I also noticed that it never says that near “Show new replies to your posts.”. My suggestion is to add a little notification beside “Show new replies to your posts.” so you know that there are new replies to your posts without having to click on the link to go check.
I was also thinking this would be a good idea the other day
This would be too much of a strain on server resources.
If you don’t end your session by closing tabs or windows, you can leave your topic open in a tab and the update-message at the top of the site will then tell you if new posts have been posted in “this topic”. This way you’ll know without reloading. But it only works when the page is left open. :S
I think current feature is enough. I always leave at least one page of JGO open, click whenever the notif shows. Although it might not be reply of my post, there is good chance I will find good new topic.
when we are at it atm
what do you think about coloring the first or all new posts in a topic in another color when one comes back to a topic
Before I went to bed last night I tried to think of a compromise that would still possibly work and I came up with this. Instead of counting the amount of new posts and displaying them beside “Show unread posts since epoch.” why not just have a little icon or something that changes depending on if there are new posts or not; an example of this would be having a red circle if there are no new posts and a green circle if there are. I’m assuming that getting rid of the post counter beside “Show unread posts since epoch.” would make the server use less resources which may allow for the same type of feature that I described earlier in this paragraph to be beside the “Show new replies to your posts.” as well.
That would use the same server resources.
Ah, too bad then. The current system works well enough. =P
