Should my next project be in Java or C#?
You’re asking this on a Java forum? And without any of the project details?
Yeah, this vote isn’t going to be biased at all…
taht is what I was thinking
hi!
this
is
just
another
useless
post
to waste your time.
It would be nice to have a personal filter setting
C#, just to be different.
The syntax between the two languages, as well as their speeds, is almost completely equivalent. The libraries are the only difference.
+1
but maybe we can all play a game by giving our pronostic on this vote lol
I start C# will win I vote for
I disagree with you. Java is more mature than C# (especially the garbage collector and the JIT compiler), more platform independent (Mono may cause some legal issues, it is not a solution…) and a bit faster (watch the Quake2 version rewritten in C# and compare it with Jake2 if you don’t believe me). If you target computers (and maybe not only under Windows) and/or mobile phones (except IPhone), I advise you to use Java. If you target XBOX 360, rather use C#.
Their syntaxes are very close, you can use OpenGL both in C# and in Java (JOGL is faster than Tao Framework and any other existing OpenGL bindings in C# for the moment). Maybe you would like to use XNA…
I vote for JAVA of course…
Java or C#?
Pick one, master it - switch later, when it makes sense.
You’re right that Java is much more mature, but in my experience the difference remains mostly irrelevant. However I would never want to develop only for Windows so there’s a big reason to do it in Java.
Also I think it’s really funny that C# is tied with Java right now. I’m assuming it’s because people are joking at the absurdity of the question in this forum.
Definitely Java!
Of course, I havent used c#, haven’t seen or read a reason to do.
forget java, Malbolge is the future.
Ahh, yes. Wonderful language, that.
OMG, just looked it up, never seen syntax like that before, tis beautiful.
No it isn’t. Brainfuck is the future.
No, Whitespace is the future. Cleanest programming language there is.
I’m surprised by how many voted for C# :o
I wonder what the results would be like on a C# developer forum. :-\
I agree with you, I’m a bit disappointed
I think the ones voting for C# are just saying you should be a well rounded developer. If you’ve tried Java, why not try C# next time. Should make it easier and more confident when you make the decision to come back to Java

Threaded Intercal FTW.
I think most who voted C# (like me) just think that this pool makes no sense. Thats like asking: “Should I buy a pizza tomorrow?” completely out of context… Those kind of decisions are requirement driven not poll driven.
(should i buy a pizza tomorrow?)
