Should i Worry About Copyright ( Font, AngelCode/BMFont Program)

Should i Worry About Copyright ( Font, AngelCode/BMFont Program) ?

Im using some Fonts i made in BMFont.

Also, if i make an image in Paint or Paint.Net and i use a font like, arial or some other, will i get in trouble? Or its free To Use/Commercial stuff, etc ?

Thanks for the replies

Can’t you use Google for these questions? Find the license that is most likely included with the program and search it. If its not included, then ask the author or figure out what you can do if it doesnt have a license.

I meant Arial as well.

And since its a sensitive question i though would be better to trust users who face the same issue .

But your Concern has been noticed

This varies considerably from country to country. In many countries the TTF is subject to copyright protection, but bitmaps created with the font have no protection. In Germany, where the printing press was invented, they have unusually strong typeface protection, so if you’re planning to distribute your game there you should investigate that. It is never worth asking for legal advice from anyone (whether qualified to give it or not) without specifying the jurisdictions which might be applicable.

I am not a lawyer. But I think that it’s alright as long as you write something, e.g. produce a bitmap of a word or sentence, you can distribute that bitmap. If you make a bitmap from each letter, and use that as a bitmap font, you are very close to dangerous ground.

Better use a free font. There are some usable fonts with very generous licenses. If in doubt, make your own font.

PS: does somebody remember any trials about fonts? It might be good to know some real life examples of court rulings.
