Senior Java Developer (NIO - client/server - p2p)

Greets,

Well well… Just want to pass on an interesting opportunity to my JG friends here… It isn’t directly gaming related, but interesting tech for those with gaming related experience common here.

I finally decided to do the day job thing and break out of the java gaming ghetto (otherwise known as the basement) and snagged a senior/lead dev spot at a startup called Mobile Complete (www.mobilecomplete.com). My experience with JG related tech (Java2D/OpenGL) is really useful after all…

Anyway, the product is like pcAnywhere for cell phones (and isn’t vaporware!). Essentially the main app is a database connected rich client via webstart with a client/server & p2p backend that streams video/audio from hosted cell phones, provides remote access to the devices, and other goodness like being able to script / synchronize multiple devices and perform testing/development remotely. Lots of interest from the big players out there…

The position is in San Mateo, CA in the SF Bay Area (on the peninsula). Central location relatively close to SF.

Here is the job description they sent out:

We are of course getting tons of J2EE responses, but this isn’t the tech being utilized for this position. A strong understanding of NIO networking and JNI via NIO are two important areas of tech. Client/Server & P2P networking along with video/audio streaming is the order of the day. I’m sure some folks around here qualify, so drop me a line. Plus, it would be darn fun to have two Java Gaming heads working at the same place…

I don’t believe there is relocation compensation in the deal, but it is a senior position and I think the prospects of the company are decent.

Best…
