I’m keen to let my users tell the world about how much they love using my app, so does anyone know a simple way to send an update to facebook. I imagined there would be some simple web service taking name+password+update but the only client library I can find if for android (I’m writing a desktop app).
Facebook publishes an API and documentation for talking to it’s services, which is all http + oauth so you can write your own access layer if you want to do that.
However be warned that it’s quirky, doesn’t always follow proper http standards and they tend to break/change things at the drop of a hat, potentially leaving your app looking ‘broken’ from a user’s POV. You’ll have to decide if that’s worth the amount of effort.
Thanks Orangey Tang and Danny02 - this was the information I was looking for!
Honestly, then I dislike all games that wants to send stuff to social media, so I think it’s a bad idea. I always ignore such options, even if they result in me getting “free” stuff.
What I’m trying to say, don’t make a game that’s all about posting stuff on Facebook, please?
Cheers.
Don’t worry - it is strictly optional and does not ‘unlock’ and features.
For unlock and features you better go to leaderboard API like scoreloop :point:
