Searching for a group.

Well… After many tries of making games (And completing a few…) I see that if I want to make something good, a group i what I need… but every group that I enter is just… kids trying to do something and then they get tired and send the project to hell… yes this is quite annoying.
I am not pro in programing, but have some experience ( I work making softwares to a law office), Actually I want to get in android scene, I’ve maked some test programs and worked well (LibGDX) and is cool play with your creations in a smartphone.
My english is bad, but I can understand you, and I think you can understand me, but I will get better… so It is it… I’m searching for a serious group… any tips?

The problem of game development, is that only a small part of it is coding the interesting bits. The vast majority of the time you work on your game is actually not that much fun at all. That’s where people tend to lose motivation, that is, if you even got to complete the interesting bits.

Odds are incredibly slim that a non-paid group will actually get beyond this. It seems only money motivates people to do the grunt work.

The best (and almost only) way to find good team? Search in your surroundings, maybe someone you know is a programmer or person who would like to learn programming and take part in the project.

And then I would recommend keeping it as a two-person team like many indie developers are; the more people, the more chance that someone breaks away and the whole thing collapses like a deck of cards. That means you need to be very multifunctional, doing sound, music, graphics and level/world design also.

I get around that problem by only remaking old 2D stuff so I can rip the graphics, music and sounds from the original. I get my game dev fix and can focus on the programming and game design only (plus that boring grunt work of actually collecting the assets).

We are not exactly active in the Android scene, how ever we are working at a online roleplaying game and we are always looking for new developers.

There are currently nearly 30 people in the development team. That means 3 server developers (C++), 1 client developer (Java) (Thats me! :D), 1 graphics artist, 10 game mechanics and content developers (Lua) and 1 web developer. The rest is working in translations and QA. In addition to that there are 8 people who handle the player management and the in-game events. In addition we got some arrangements with 2 sound artists who supply the original sound track to the game and 3 people who handle the society that maintains finances and the rights to the game.

The project is active since '99, so we got beyond the point of the initial idea.

So if you want to join a active team, feel free to contact me. You can look in what ever part of the game development that is done here you like.

The projects homepage is: http://illarion.org
We also got parts of our source code as open source: https://github.com/Illarion-eV

As I said we are not in the development of android applications. How ever we can provide experience in general game development and game management. And we got a small, yet active community of players who give us some feedback… for the better or worse.

As for the languages. The game is in German and in English. How ever most of the development and playing is done in English.

Feel free to contact me if you are interested.
