SE 6 update 10 disables Java console

This is probably the wrong place to post but anyway…
I have upgraded to SE 6 update 10.

If I enable the “next generation plug in” option I lose the java console in IE (Vista business ) but not in Firefox.
Unchecking the option restores the console.

Is this a bug ( I don’t see it reported anywhere) or am I ( as usual) failing to understand something?

Thanks

Chris

Should have added that I cannot enable the console while the option is checked.

The right place to post this is on the Java Plug-In forum.

I’m not sure this is what you mean, but the new Java Plug-In doesn’t support the browser’s menu options for enabling the Java Console. Those menu options are going away soon. You can turn on the Java Console using the Java Control Panel, Advanced tab, or on Windows, using the Java system tray icon.

Note that you’ll probably want to keep pace with the 6u10 builds as they are released. Development is occurring very quickly on the new Java Plug-In right now and robustness is improving with each build. For correct operation you will need to uninstall the earlier build and then install the newer one each time (sorry).
