Rubicon

Rubicon

Ok, I’m here to present your my last game named Rubicon.

This game is some kind of arena shooter where you control an artefact placed on the middle of the screen.

Your goal is to hold on as long as you can and destroy as many enemies as you can.

You have two tools at your disposal, you can either touch the screen to shoot or raise your shield to protect you from bullets.

It’s targeted at the Android platform and relies heavily on particles

If someone know what kind of gender it is, please let me know :D.

And yes, the Rubicon is the red thing right in the middle of the screen.

As for the graphics, well it’s part… particles, part from Tyrian but those sprites are in the process of getting replaced by new ones made by Emma Payne.

Ho and it’s build with libGDX !

Well, let me know what you think !

Available here : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=be.julien.rubico

I would really love if people who make games with Libgdx actually included a desktop port as well. Since I don’t have an Android device, would be really awesome if I could play some of these games :stuck_out_tongue:

After all, one of the best things about libgdx is that it supports so many platforms!

Easier still is the Web port, then theres no download, just click and play

(ok, ok, chrome works best for it)

Cheers

Super cool game. The gameplay is simple but frantic. Good balance between offense and defense when those bullets start heading in. I was getting confused with the control style at first. I kept wanting to aim at the enemy ships but depending where my finger/touchpad was the offset would change. I just started using the center of the artifact as the touchpad and all was good  I’ll keep it on the phone to play when I’m bored.

Nice game, graphics are pretty cool, reminds me of missile command

Thanks everyone !

  • About the control, you can simply switch to absolute controls, not relative, in the option

  • And Yeah, you’re totally right about missile commands, I think that I came up with this idea when I was thinking about missile command

nice screen shakes

There’s already a space shooter called rubicon (even successfully funded on kickstarter):
