Riftgate: First-person 3D game with construction/excavation, combat and more

Ever since I started playing video games I’ve wanted to create something in them. Whether it was a built-in level editor or some other form of modification, I’ve always loved adding my own content to the game.
I think more games should have this ability to be modified by the player. Many 2D games have this ability, as it is often easy to design simple level editors – however, this feature is much more sparse in the world of 3D games. Yeah, Halo 4’s Forge is cool and all, but you can only add certain objects to the world, and you can’t modify the landscape or hard-coded structures. Like all level editors in other games, it has its limitations.

Riftgate will attempt to fill this gap in the world of 3D games by allowing for complete modification of the world and its inhabitants, as well as featuring aspects from many other genres. There will be construction, excavation, combat, interstellar exploration, machinery, electricity, and a complex economy. It is a very ambitious project and will be continuously developed in the same fashion that Minecraft is. I have not decided what website name i will use for it, as both riftgate.com and riftgate.net are taken by squatters, but for now the temporary site will be http://www.isaac-churchill.com/. :point: Early pre-alpha versions will be available soon for free on that site. Stay tuned for further updates! ;D
