Most corporates have learned that making highly-skilled, heavily-invested workers redundant is bad in the long term. I reckon Sun knows this too.
Anyway, if Sun wants to get out of making hardware & into software, they’re going to need you guys!
We move along just fine. To give you an idew aht a non-event reorgs are at Sun, Ive been at sun almost 7 years and in that time Ive had 5 managers.
Asa for layoffs, it was annoucned a few days ago that we are laying off 5000 workers worldwide, which is about 10%-11%. This is not across the board cuts but rather strategic cuts in palces where Sun feels the investment is not showing signs of appropriate return. Labs will be hit but not as deeply as some other parts of Sun.
