Regarding the 'show unread posts since last visit' feature

Often my ‘unread posts’ just don’t show up - the listing is empty. Even the ‘show all unread posts’ yields nothing, which is becoming more and more annoying, as it seems to happen way more often than is used to.

It’s just totally b0rked, every other day.

I never really complained about is, as I thought it was a combination of me logging in with various browsers from various systems, but now I read that more people are experiencing this issue.

If debugging this is too much to ask (I for one would hate to fix bugs in very old 3rd party code…) a nice alternative would be to show ‘all todays topics’ (which could be cached every 5 minutes…)

Well, there’s always this, though it’s not limited to just today’s new posts:

Or, as another alternative, you can use something like Google Reader which has a read/unread state for each item

Here is the RSS feed for the last 50 posts:
http://www.java-gaming.org/index.php?type=rss;action=.xml;limit=50

Unfortunately there is no TTL for that feed, so I assume Google only updates it every 15mins (rather than 5mins)

Nice one, although the layout is way too verbose for a quick glance. A feature exactly like that with the layout of ‘unread posts’ would be the perfect alternative to a ‘true fix’!
