When will the feature be added that enables one to see exactly which topics have had posts the last 24 hours? Even the current scheme that marks a topic “today” is broken - If I check jgo 00:05 no posts from before 00:00 will ever show up. Not to mention the tedious work of clicking every topic to see the last post(s) you haven’t seen.

I might even be content with a feature that marks everything as read and then a view that shows me all new posts since the last “clear”.

All in all, I’d prefer the old boards to this fancy thing any day. Am I the only one?

Not that this rant helps or anything so I’ll throw in another: Where the f*** is the rest of the jgo site I stopped waiting for a long time ago? And where is the demos? And Jeff & Co.?

there is the ‘recent’ link - though this sucks too, since it only lists the last 10 posts :frowning:

I hear ya !
it’s weird - we have 1000+ users of this board and no admin - like a ship with out no captain…

Yep, feature like that would make the board much more “fun”. Takes to long to open all the boards to see what has changed in each board.

cheers

Yep saw it, and yes, it’s unusable IMO. Give me back the old boards till this one is fixed, please.

Since there’s no real content at java-gaming.org and there hasn’t been in quite a while, all it would take in order to get these features would be for someone here to register a domain, buy some fairly cheap web space, and set up shop.

In addition to having access to better forums, there could be a Wiki or perhaps some appointed site admins who could put up sample code, FAQs, etc.

Any volunteers?

It’s not that I’m concerned by any imaginary “split” in the JGO community over this but another forum dedicated to the same stuff would take another 2 years to reach critical mass so it’s probably not really worth it. And by then it’s likely at least something will have happened here at JGO.

I think some “traffic controllers” to redirect people posting here to another site could reduce the ‘criticical mass’ time to a few months. True there are a lot of sites linked to this domain, but there is also a lot that can be done about that.

Oh well, not something I’m dead set on (if it were, I might do it myself) but just an idea I’ve been contemplating

How about buying Javagaming off from someone?

Or, markuskidd, how about volunteering to assist in the site buildout? I have been asking if members are interested in participating. How about it? ;D

I’d offer to write regular technical articles all day long for the site - but you’d have to employ me because I’ve got a house to pay for

Is there any chance to get Chmans site linked/moved here so we can get to the Nehe java ports easily. I’ve contirbuted to his site and found it useful, I’m sure others would too!
