hehe innocent post. :stuck_out_tongue:

in reality this is quake for java

click software and download it (you need the quake pak-file too, which you can get there too)

its a (not playable) quake demo based on LWJGL…

so much for the doability of fps in java 8)

I ran the demo and I was quite impressed. The homepage fails to explain exactly what it is you are offering though.

hmm, can’t deice the quake pak file… just hangs, waiting for me to type a drive letter … on XP :-/

Had the same problem… then I used the install.bat rather than deice.exe and it worked. Try that.

Just tried the Technology Demo, very nice work. There have been some discussion on doing Quake using LWJGL, and you’ve just showed it to be possible! (not that we didn’t know, but still some work to get it done!).

I’d imagince there is a huge api for the Simulation Container, which hasn’t gone public yet, yes?

I want to first apologize for the delay in responding to everyone. It is one thing to write really cool software, but it is something entirely different to get people to find this really cool software.

To darcone: we are being vague at this point. We realize that the number one priority on our list is to get people over the stigma that Java is not right for gaming. This purpose of this technology preview is to simply expose the community to a high performance Java based game.

See the “LWJGL Development” topic for more information.

Wow, I finally got around to trying this out and I was very impressed! (Being on dial-up, it took some time until I found the time to download all)
Got 60fps throughout at 1024x768x32@60 with sound enabled and got varying idle time. Seems pretty good for something completely unoptimized
Not being sure yet what a ‘Simulation Container’ is exactly, I’m quite eager to find out.
