Razar Black Widow Ultimate! DEAD!

Hey guys. So… I just lost my black widow… I spilled my drink on it, and then, I tried to clean it off and… it doesnt light up and the comp. doesnt detect it. Thank Notch I had an extra keyboard… but a CRAPPY one. Cant type with it very well. Anyway, was just wonderinf if there is any hope for saving my razar… I mean I really didnt spill much on it… the keyboard “died” when i unplugged/replugged it… so… yeah. Is there any hope?

Have you tried cleaning the keyboard?

Just water, or coffee or something? You shouldn’t drink stuff around your computer unless you’re very careful. Also, what do you need a $100 keyboard for :o

it may or may not have been monster XD

yeah, i know… im clumsy
as far as why i need it: I LOVE the mexhanical keys and… i got it for christmas so… yeah
also, the lights now work, but the keys are screwed up… whats the key binding to reset the keyboard?
ive had this issue before… i hit some keys and it reset it to default settings somehow… idk

A key binding to reset key bindings.
Cool.

it worked once, it should work again lol. dont ask me, all i know is that it worked.

Do it in your bathroom next time.

You may not need a $100 keyboard but higher-end keyboards with macros can actually save you money by saving you time. For example: I have the non LED version of the blackwidow with some of the following key binds (Note: You can have many layout modes):

  • M1 - Runs the eclipse project
  • M2 - Types “System.out.println(”");"
  • M3 - Formats the code
  • M4 - Comments out the selected line(s)
  • M5 - Rename shortcut
  • Any key can be set to launch a program (you could make a Java bot binded to it), a combination of keys with a specific time interval, etc

The time it would have taken to do all those things will eventually pay for itself.

All of those things can be done using AutoHotKey or a more low level language like C++…

… the entire issue is that i am not able to type because certain keys type a million other keys… so…

touché

You can remove each key individually, I have a black widow too, just grab a ID, gift card etc (something plastic) put it behind the back of the key, and kind of turn the side of it upwards (turn the ID, gift card etc, clockwise), the key should then pop out.

The space bar and backspace have a bar across it, I think you can take it off normally, but i am not sure.

DO NOT TURN IT ON AGAIN. That could fry the chips if there is still liquid in inside.

I know this works with phones but it should work with most electronics: put it in uncooked rice and leave it overnight.

Is rice the solution to everything?

I’m Chinese TAIWANESE so I may be biased
…but yes

I dropped my phone in a puddle…for 20 minutes… Put in rice overnight and boom, it was magically working the next morning.

Windows+5 to start Eclipse (Windows 7, when apps are in the quick start, you can start them with Windows+# where # is their location from the left to the right, starting with 1)
“syso” -> ctrl+space
ctrl+s (Yes, auto format code when I save)
ctrl+7 - comment out/in line(s)
ctrl+alt+r - refactor variable, function, etc.

On osx for me, the only difference is that I do “cmd+space” type “ecli” and hit enter, to start Eclipse, and instead of ctrl on most of the hotkeys, I use cmd. xD

Those little “DO NOT EAT” silica gel desiccant packs work even better than rice.

I have one of those logitech programmable keyboards but i only do macros for games with its special keys, since I’m on at least three different machines depending on where I am and that keyboard is only in one place.
