Question to old thread: Quads for landscape mesh?

Hi!

I I found this old thread about landscapes (http://www.java-gaming.org/index.php/topic,5865.0.html

the target of the link doesn´t exist anymore…
Maybe someone knows if this tutorial is still online anywhere?
Or some other Tutorials about this topic?

Even better would be a tutorial on geometry clipmaps…

I´ve searched with google an read a lot but I still not understand it…
Maybe someone can help?

Thanks in advance!

Archive.org is your friend:
http://web.archive.org/web/20051228025040/http://home.planet.nl/~monstrous/terrain.html

Great! Thx!

My pleasure.

I haven’t read up on this stuff very much, but I’d be interested what sort of strategy you do end up going with.

Oh, and btw; there are different versions of that page in the archive, you might want to check in case others are more useful.

I don´t know if i´ll implement them. But I had to write an artikel about realtime rendering and manipulation of large terrains.
Especially about the paper web2py.iiit.ac.in/…/inproceedings.pdf.f03398f3-2f6a-4189-9476-a9c940255b1d.pdf.

But I´ve got no idea about terrain rendering methods, so I want to look at some tutorials first. And I´ve read that the tutorial
from the previous thread would be great to get an idea about that topic…

Maybe someone read the paper and can provide some more information about it and like to discuss about it?

BTW: Archiv.org is great! Many thanks for this cool link!
