Not sure if I should’ve just sent this as a PM, but anyway…
… I keep having major issues with the notification system. At some point, for some reason, it completely stops notifying me when there are new posts. This sometimes happens as soon as I open my browser (Chrome), like for the last two hours I’ve gotten none, or after several hours of having it open.
Wondering if others are havin’ the same issue or anything.
It ia a long running tcp connection with a keepalive heartbeat, without an error handler. I am using an SMF javascript function to setup the ajax request, for which the SMF developers thought no i/o errors could ever occur. Seems reasonable right?
I’ll admit that a lot of that just went over my head. Or through my head, without leaving behind any meaning… But I think I understand the gist of it. Sort of resolves in a “SMF Developers Y U NO have realistic expectations about errors”, doesn’t it?
I can deal (Reloading ain’t a problem at all), I just wasn’t sure if it was a symptom of my own awkward internet coupled with my overly zealous AV (Both tend to be an issue with… Well, most things I try to do. xD) or something else.
Upright you are not the only one with this problem. Not much of a problem really but what ever. I think it is such a minor issue that it does not need to fixed any time in the distant future really.
