Man I tell you what cas, of all of your games, this is still my favorite. I know it’s an iddy biddy applet with only a few levels and I can’t even get the 3rd upgrade, but I love this game If you made a full version of this with the quality you put into the rest of your games, I’d definitely buy it. On second thought… wanna make it together? ;D
Already halfway through Puppy Invaders “Deluxe”. It’s less like our big games and more like Puppytron though. Basically smoother, nicer, bigger than the applet, and with online scores.
Cas
woo! And lots of upgrades I hope
All the same ones as in the applet… plus perhaps a few special ones you can’t buy that just fall out of the sky.
Cas
I prefer Puppytron. It’s fearsomely addictive. Although puppytron.net was down when I got a score of over 100,000 so it wouldn’t save it :’(
Puppytron is definitely the best game I’ve yet written. But I’ve got several more little ones on the drawing board which should all be just as fun.
Cas
I thought the puppy robots are cute.
You should have made them all furry.
Nice work Princec.

Interesting to hear you say that. It’s also one of the simplest (from a graphical viewpoint), although all the little effects make a big difference, like the way the robots materialize and the particle explosions. It’s just highly concentrated gameplay. The sound effects are really good as well.

Can’t wait! ;D
I play puppy invaders way too much, but I can’t get past the part where those two clusters of purple things come down at you. I would definitely buy a deluxe version if the price was right.
Anyway, I thought I’d mention that it doesn’t play that great on OS X. Sometimes the ship gets “stuck” when you are firing. It’s fairly easy to recreate the problem if you hold down control and then try to move back and forth. A lot of times, the ship won’t move. This doesn’t happen on Windows, though.
That’s the usual Sun “write once, broken everywhere” Java rubbish. You’re looking at a prime case for the raison d’etre of LWJGL there!
Tip: problems with clusters of gidrahs? You need a smartbomb handy
Cas
little games eh? I’d love to see what’s running in the background! BTW I have a new LWJGL game I’m doing which is very simple in gameplay. I just need to add the setup GUI and I’ll share it with you guys
How the hell do you do those “glowy” effects on the sprites?
With the “Outer Glow” effect in Photoshop
Cas
That screenshot looks great !
nice change to your customary smiley. heh.
Wow, that’s a sweet looking screen shot; I love that pixelly style!
wow thats awesome, I can’t wait to play this version (hopefully there are a bunch more levels ).
Plans are, 30 gidrahs, 4 bosses, 4 worlds, 100 levels.
Cas
Looking good
