Game is playable but in a phase where much functionality is being added. For the moment it is only available on www.spaceraze.com to a limited number of beta-testers. When it is more stable www.spaceraze.com will be opened to everyone, and anyone who wants to can host their own SpaceRaze-server.
Description
SpaceRaze is a turn-based strategy game of intergalactic warfare and conquest. Players try to win control over a quadrant of space, containing several other players and factions. A typical SpaceRaze game will update a few times every week and will be finished after a few weeks.
Any number of Spaceraze games can run at the same time on a SpaceRaze webserver and players can start their own games and participate in several games at the same time.
SpaceRaze also contain a map editor, allowing players to create their own maps which can be used in SpaceRaze games, and a battle simulator allowing players to test the strength of different spaceship types.
Each SpaceRaze game can be played in one of several different gameworlds, each defining its own player factions, spaceships, people and rules. A gameworld editor allowing players to create their own gameworlds will be added as soon as possible.
One of the principles of SpaceRaze is sharing: any starmap or gameworld that a player or admin creates can be used by other players in games, and can also be copied and used to create new maps and gameworlds.
The game itself is played in a Java applet, and the website is running on Tomcat using JSP. The mapeditor is also a Java applet, and the battle simulator is a webpage (using JavaScript and JSP). The applets uses a servlet tunnel to communicate with the server.
