time between vista and 7 was short
why ?
they knew vista was shit
but here is an idea: release it prematurely, market the shit out of it, and then later release 7 and earn more money.
I want to have a linux box and a M$ box for development purposes, and this looks like an opportunity to ditch vista and get Win7. I can also take the opportunity to make the box dual boot with linux. Crazy question - can you install Os X on a computer or do you have to actually buy the hardware from Apple. By the way, on the subject of evil, surely apple leaves MS in the dust with its totalitarian lock-in?
@Cero: I guess you didn’t read the part about looking at world news or at the kinds of stunts non-tech companies pull. Ultimately the worse things that MS or apple have done is earn some extra cash. This is stealing a piece of candy from the store. Big deal…slap on the wrist with fines and move on.
WRT: MS in console market. Why not? Because they’re not based in Japan?
Slightly revisionist history but OK. You forget that they are big fat meanines that force small companies out of business. Unlike most tech companies. You also forgot .NET.
But what I ask for was an explanation…I guess I’ll give it myself:
“The aristocratic rebel must find a new cause, because he has enough food to eat”.
Well since EA was named worst company in America, even worse than Bank of America and stuff, I think IT companies can be called THAT BAD - in a world thats so dependent on this technology.
I like ATARI so thats not entirely it. They just came in late, imitated and now earn so much money.
SEGA was so devoted and are now gone.
Economics not being fair - yeah I know, kinda pointless to talk about.
Well no console had so many failures as the Xbox360 with RRODs perfectly showing microsoft quality. Well maybe except for ATARI Jaguars…
Not being a Nintendo fan, Nintendo were like pioneers with the NES. The Sega Master System came at a similar time and a heated battle began.
Sony, who only made their own console after getting screwed by Nintendo, actually brought innovation to the table and did a ton right - which also why the Playstation controlled hasn’t changed since - was already perfect.
I might have added that I meant the electronics market. :persecutioncomplex:
You see the same thing even in the last decade: ‘derrr took arr jerbs!’ in the solar panel market.
Anyway, I think stealing ideas is OK. It’s how the world works. Ideas are worth shit. You can only excel in the implementation of the idea, which is arguably what Microsoft did.
