PixME: A Java Pixelart Software

Hello,

i’m currently working on a new project named PixME.
With PixME you can create easily and fast pixelarts!

Be warned, it’s currently something like a beta!

What would be really nice is to have layer functionality. And to be able to set that layer to a color.

Great work! I found the color switcher not to work properly. It’s really is simple to use to me. How would I save my projects as an image, if you created a method for doing that. I made something that I personally really like.

It’s some kind of futuristic alien that does everything with his brain. He is encapsulated inside of a blue sack. I got a pretty cool idea from it.

Cool project, cant wait to see how it turns out :slight_smile:

Question though, what features do you have in mind that will help allow for fast pixel art creation?

I will add a layer function as soon as possible.

That looks really cool :slight_smile:
And there is a method to save your project as image! Just go to “Data” -> “Export image…” and choose the option you want

Maybe a kind of “randomnizer” wich generates random colors to a selected area, or as i said: a layer function.
I also want to add line- and rectangle/ellipse tools

If you’re ever wondering how to do something, you may be able to find a bit of help in the Paint.JAVA (my project) source code here.

Say, are we still working on that? I would still like to, and I’ll have time again after May ends.

Sorry for quick derail; looking forward to how your project evolves, OP. :slight_smile:

Here is what I would expect from a good pixel art program.

The ability to edit frames individually:

  • You select part of the image, select sprite size, and you can edit each frame individually, while last frame is drawn before current frame with reduced alpha so you can see what last frame looked like;
  • Properly working hotkeys;
  • Ability to enter color values in integers;

I think that would be all for starters :smiley: Basically I would really love if this had the ability to do sprite animations. Because now, this is like shittier version of Paint.net

If I were you, I would take some inspiration from Aseprite.
It’s one of my favourite pixel-art/spriting programs.

Do you plan on adding support for custom colour palettes? Because that would be really nice! :smiley:

Configurable color hotkeys?
