Paint.NET alternative for OSX

Last week I bought a new (used) Macbook and discovered there is a lack of a basic image editor. I use Paint.NET for Windows because it is free and fairly simple to use, I generally use it for low resolution pixel art. Is there a free alternative for Mac? I’ve tried Paint 2, but you need to pay to get the full features of the program and I was wondering what everyone else uses!

GNU Image Manipulation Program

I’ve used GIMP before, it’s a good powerful program, but I was looking for something simpler with an easier UI like PDN. If that’s the only good free alternative then I will have to take a look at it again, but I was hoping I could find something else.

Thanks for the fast reply though!

Try out Spade, made by one of JGO’s own members! It is a sort-of Paint.NET clone, with a focus on pixel art.

Unfortunately Spade is nowhere near feature-complete and is heavily stalled. However, HeroesGrave would probably welcome anyone who wants to contribute!

Oh, I had forgotten about that program! Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll try it out.

I think I need to upload a new build of Spade. There was one or two nasty bugs in the current one.

It’s not stalled for any reason other than that I’m busy with schoolwork and other projects.
The only thing that really needs to be done at this point is the addition of new tools and/or effects.

I use Pixen. It’s quite decent for pixel art, though costs a few dollars.

No idea if it’s any good, but came across this last week.

I use Pinta. Pinta is exactly like Paint.NET and has versions for Windows, Linux and OSX. Website: http://pinta-project.com.
