www.java-gaming.org,

Are there any other forums/blogs that you have found interesting?

Not java related, really, but I’ve found a few blogs really useful as a programmer, particularly Steve Yegge and Coding Horror - the last of those is very .net centred but then my work has been for the last few years so that works out well for me. I’m sure there are many other ones that would make me a better programmer, but my morning coffee break isn’t that long…
There are a couple of people on this site who have very readable blogs too…
POST DELETED
Depends on the forum topic. Sometimes I crawl through the gamedev.net forums. Not registered, cause there are enough other boards i have to visit.
Most time visited were http://www.lwjgl.org/forum/, http://www.unrealed.de, http://www.delphigl.com and of course (some off topic) http://www.dilbert.com ^^
I goto one forum that’s really nice, lots of members who are very knowledgable about many different topics. But I’m not going to publicize it because popularity is inversely proportional to the quality of a forum.
It’s alright, we’re already here

There are only 2 posts… Who’s the site aiming at? Is that worth the maintenance effort?
Johannes
@Is that worth the maintenance effort? it requires very little matinece when there are only few members the site has other purposes as well that is only part of it
@Who’s the site aiming at? i do not know what you mean if its who own the site look down to the boutum of this post if it is what is the webhost it is www.jumba.com.au ;D
Well I though there may be a specific target group… such as kids learning Java or SciFi freaks … after all there is an Star Trek Enterprise picture in the upper right corner
Anyway… Are there any German Java Gaming forums actually?
Johannes
kewl, thanks!
edit: it appears to me as if not many people visit that forum frequently… Arent more popular ones around?
I know two other german gamedev boards, both have sub-forums for programming languages and algorithms but these are not tied to specific ones. (however, c++ is dominant of course ::))
Decide yourself, which is your favorite and the most active:
The USF has probably the least active programming section, but there are many professional game developers registered… and you will notice that puppy games is linked under Creative Fun on top of the About page.
Not necesarily java related, but interesting from time to time:
http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/
http://www.devmaster.net/forums/
http://www.igda.org/Forums/
I had a closer look on both. They seem to be relatively general in terms of covered topics and languages. You mentioned that already… But yeah thanks anyway! Do you visit them regularly?
I am actually looking for a way to promote FengGUI in the German Java game dev community. But I suppose people who are serious about gaming in Java know www.java-gaming.org anyway
Johannes
the USF yes: I receive an e-mail everyday with the new and updated topics in the programming board, which almost never more the 2 or 3 topics. if one is interesting to me, I read it and possibly post.
Yes, JGO is THE java gaming forum and where your promotiom probably has the most impact. But since its a graphical project, why not make a nice looking GUI and submit it to various IOTD pages (gamedev.net, softgames.de, .)? Or have you done that already?

No, not yet although we have couple of examples including a webstart. It certainly doesnt hurt to post some of them on the boards. I add that to my todo list
