os x performance issue

hello

i start working with xith3d on my powerbook (1,25ghz, panther). all jogl-demos work fine. but there are performance issues with xith3d and openmind. rotations of simple objects do not run smooth. it stucks about 3 times a second.

is this a problem of my setup or a general problem of xith3d? any hints?

thanks

Hi. If Jogl runs smoothly on your machine so should do Xith3d because it uses Jogl as hardware API layer. So I suppose that’s the only platform dependent thing in Xith3d which could differ from other platforms.
I am also a Xith3d newbie but can say that it rotates complex models very smoothly, even if these objects are transparency sorted.

Maybe something is wrong with your Xith3d version? Which Xith version do you use at the moment? I use the “community build” 2003-11-13_cvs from http://www.xith.org/download.php on a Win32 box.
Maybe another Mac Xith3d user could comment…

i use the same version:

Java™ 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.1_01-99)

it would be great if there would be a commend by another apple-user

stop. i tried the jogl gears demo. it stucks, too. perhaps its an jogl issue.

can you try a native “gears” demo (ie one without using java).

Jogl-gears and linux glxgears are near identicle on my system (as they should be).

Do other OpenGL apps run fine on your system?

Will.

open gl games and applications run fine on my system. there were some hints in the jogl-forum. with the november build of jogl it runs a bit smoother.
