Orbs

[b]ORBS
Hello JGO, I am new to the forums and I am also a fairly new java programmer. I learnt it this year actually any how, for my final project at school I made a game with Greenfoot called Orbs. Orbs is a mixture between an arcade game and a strategy game, try to survive as long as you can to gain the highest score. Even though my project is submitted for marking I would like to continue improving it and making it the best it can be. In the future I would like to incorporate a Co-Op mode into this game, but for now it would be greatly appreciated if you took some time to test it out and tell me what you would like to see changed and/or improved! P.S. had some help from my friends with the high score server code, and graphics.

Thanks!

-EDIT: HIGHSCORES ARE NOW OFFLINE

How is big exactly the file size? it took more than 2mins here to load ???

@ReBirth
The JAR looks like it’s 14.6MB.

@OP
I’m not quite sure how to play still. After reading the instructions, it seems i have to change my color to the same as the enemy units? Then what is the point of ejecting orbs?

Also the game frozen each time I played to a point where I had to forcefully kill the Java process. I found no correlation of when it freezes, it seems as if it does it at random.

No wonder it took me some mins here to load. Need jar.

You can try to lower the graphics in the setting to try to reduce lag. I am not sure what’s causing the lag in lower end computers, but I will try to fix it. You eject orbs so that you can change the colour of them to the same as the enemy units. When you collide with the enemy and the colours are the same, you will not lose any orbs. Anything that has a size of 25 will grow, but it is always yellow.

It’s not lagging, it’s completely frozen. The only thing that might help is that it freezes the EDT since the Java console is also frozen.

And ah, thanks for confirming my thoughts :slight_smile:

@ra4king
Ok, I think it might be the website that is causing the freezing and lag. So here is the .jar file: http://www.mediafire.com/?za9s4672dm169d6

Yay jar file! need time to play it and come back :slight_smile:
