What is this “SUN OpenGL bindings” that is mentioned in the
headline news at opengl.org ? Is it something new ?

Could be JoGL. Could be the version Sun have announced for internal use. Could be the collaboration with SGI. Could be the result of the new working group that’s been set up. Could even be a new one, hey? ;D

Well, well, well.

The SUN/SGI Java/OpenGL bindings

The JOGL Project hosts a reference implementation of the Java bindings for OpenGL API, and is designed to provide hardware-supported 3D graphics to applications written in Java. JOGL provides full access to the APIs in the OpenGL 1.4 specification as well as nearly all vendor extensions, and integrates with the AWT and Swing widget sets. Coding demos are available.

Maybe this helps a little.

Interestingly, the URL in that other topic still hasn’t been updated. Perhaps its no longer linked to on OGL.org, but the URL itself is still active (and referenced all over the web)…

This is the same question I wanted to ask on JOGL forum, but later I found on opengl.org that they [looks like] position JOGL as SUN/SGI Java/OpenGL bindings I deleted my post.

OK ! Thanks folks ! I see that the reference is indeed to jogl & co ;D

There also appears to be a new(?) OpenGL Forum for
“math & algorithms” which may turn out to be interesting…

Also notice this quote, from the OpenGL.org link
