OpenGL now ubiquitous

My stats tell me that hardware OpenGL is now present on practically all Windows XP machines (total machines surveyed about 4500). Awesome. My stats also tell me that 98 and ME are just… gone. No-one uses them any more. I’ve got about 16 people using it. And my stats also tell me the Mac market still make up 43% of my market with no effort whatsoever beyond simply using Java.

Vista is nowhere but I’ve not got enough data to draw any real conclusions yet.

Over what period?

Ah well, I’ll xpost the stats:

Wow… high Mac sales! :o

Does this mean that the figure you mentioned earlier that 50% of people are not having proper OpenGL drivers is obsolete?

That’s right. This is this year’s data and it looks as though the situation is finally under control.

Note that it doesn’t say whether the drivers are any good for anything more complicated than my games, by the way. And my games involve blitting quads and drawing lines…

Cas

How do you determine the success/failure rate? Does the installer communicate with your server in some way?

Registration check or hiscore table request. Generally speaking if the computer’s online and playing a Titan demo, I get a log of whether it ran or not. It usually runs - failures are where it runs and says “You need new drivers.”

Looks great! Thanks for sharing.
