[Odejava] Bug in CarExample(Terrain)

Hi there,

Is it a known bug that the terrain jumps violently up and down whilst driving the car?

The demo in question is situated at the following URL:

http://odejava.org/tiki-index.php?page=OdejavaXith3DDemos

System: Win XP, Java 1.4.2_04, Geforec2MX 64MB

well, I know about it

same setup as you - but in Linux too.

I’m guessing it works for Jani since it’s his demo.

I havn’t seen this bug manifest itself in any other odejava apps, so it’s probably nothing to worry about.

Will.

Just checking the demos page again(this time from my apple), I attempted to load the XODEExample but I receive the following error:

Error

An error occurred while launching/running the application.

Title: Odejava Demo - RunDemo
Vendor: Odejava Project Group
Category: Download Error

Unable to load resource: http://odejava.org/jws/lib/joal/macosx/joal.jar

JNLP file

With regard to the following line: I instead use “Mac OS”, but i’m not sure if this will fix this problem.

I brought the initial subject to light because I thought it may put possible future users/developers off, if there are quite visible problems with the few examples up on the site.

quite true. to be honest I don’t know why it’s happening. Hopefully Jani will find the time to fix it one day.

A Mac user huh? Thanks for trialing the JWS - alas I can’t test it myself on a Mac. I’ll fix that 404 error

As far as I know the “Mac OS X” should be ok - I used the xith3d one as a base.

Will.

fixed that one download error - try again

Will.

I’ll test it again tonight when I get home from my PC-infested work.

Well, all libraries download now through webstart, but as soon as you click the button to run the application, webstart exits. :frowning:

try running javaws from the command line and you may get some output (or a .log created). In Javaws - turn the console and logging on so we can see what’s happening.

Do Xith3D demo’s work?

Will.

Hmmm, on the apple, i don’t seem to have a javaws binary… not sure where it’s located… I’ll have to conduct some more research into this.

With regard to working demos, there seem to be few (from the Xith.org site).

Please see the thread i just posted on this issue here:

http://www.java-gaming.org/cgi-bin/JGNetForums/YaBB.cgi?board=xith3d;action=display;num=1085609092;start=0

Right, swpalmer pointed me in the right direction as to the obvious location of of the java webstart application (Applications\Utilities\Java).

Upon launching the XODEJava JNLP I receive the following in my log:

Java Web Start 1.4.2_03 Console, started Thu May 27 01:14:14 BST 2004
Java 2 Runtime Environment: Version 1.4.2_03 by Apple Computer, Inc.
Logging to file: webstart_log
0 [javawsApplicationMain] FATAL odejava - Native code library failed to load. java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no odejava in java.library.path

Hope this helps, let me know if you want me to perform any more checks!

I see the problem - I didn’t upload a macosx odejava binary :-S

Let me get back to you on that.

Will.

Just a little reminder to update the demos if possible with the new odejava libs? I too have now got my new mac and wish to test the performance of these demos.

Regards,

Ribot.

it’s at the top of my list

I’m currently on holiday however in NZ so I will have to wait a week - sorry.

Cheers,

Will.

ok, no problem! Hope you have a nice rest out in the wilderness!

P.S. Did you bring your new powerbook with you on holiday? ;D

thanks

yeah not everywhere lets me hook it up - one claimed laptops sucked their bandwidth (well not what I’d be doing…), others were clueless and afraid I’d stuff it up but some are really cool about it and have proper laptop seats.

By the way - I don’t think the terrain bug is still a problem with the new binaries (don’t hold me to it but I’m going on memory here).

Will.
