Hi everyone! This is my first new post on here and I was wondering if I could get a few opinions about the OCJP exam. I was finally able to pass this exam after spending over 100 hours reading and doing mock exams. As game developers, how would you rate the value of this certification? I know that I have learned a lot from studying and passing this, but does the certification itself say anything about one’s ability to program a game? Thoughts?

All other things being equal, I suppose I’d recommend hiring someone with a cert over someone without … but all other things are never equal, and an entry-level cert doesn’t actually say much in terms of programming ability such as the ability to think analytically.
I’m not in the games industry, but I suspect they put even less value on certs than the rest of the industry. They’re not worthless, but I definitely wouldn’t spend my own money getting one.
