Object loaders / Newbie

Greetings.
This could be an old question, but I couldn’t find anything about it when searching the forums.

I’m looking at a C++ object loader for .3ds, and are trying to convert it to java/jogl. Have anyone made a complete .3ds (or other formats) loader for JoGL I could look at? Or know about any on the web, for that matter.

These are geared for gl4java but using with jogl should be identical. A few of them deal with loading models, like NeHe 31: Loading MS3D models would be a good one to look at.

Basically the procedure for loading a binary file is reading the file into a byte[] then reading out ints or chars or whatever as you go. Of course you have to know the file format.
