It is used in the header, to countdown to the Java4K deadline. It updates once per second, which is rather silly, but once we approach the deadline, it will be more specific.
@Riven: when the timers tick (every second) the view shifts so you can see the timer. At least on my iPhone.
EDIT: Now it’s just moving to the bottom of the page every second
Counter GO!
[countdown]1346889600[/countdown]
This counter is set to my birthday. Please check it every day to make sure you don’t forget about my birthday. Thank you.
FYI: i didn’t modify anything. So as there is a countdown on every page (the header), it would scroll, all the time, making this forum unusable.
I just grabbed the iphone of my dad, and i didn’t have the problem you described…
Countdown for when time collapses into itself: [countdown]1356069600[/countdown]
or maybe nothing happens… again.
Hmm… don’t know why it was just my phone. Assuming your talking about the “Java4k - 8 days to go” header at the top, I think that it’s not a problem because it isn’t changing every second. The only reason the timers that were running in this thread were doing it is because the text was changing as the seconds ticked down. At least… I think that’s why x) only because now that the timers on this page have expired it’s no longer moving down to the bottom of the page. Perhaps it’s the text changing and not the actual timer?
The top post (mine) has a countdown that hasn’t expired yet. (countdowns are not affected by timezones)
Your very first post in this thread? It has expired for me. It says “Deadline expired.” where the countdown used to be.
Oops, the caching layer is really playing tricks on trivial functionality here
(fixed)
It still says “Deadline expired.s.” for me
And what happened? What did you set the countdown timer for?
Ofcourse it’s still expired, it’s just that it’s expired for everybody.
Those who clicked right in the middle of the O of ‘JGO’ in the logo, got access to the vault. A few of you are now in round 2.
Round 2?
OH MY GOD…The Vault :o
OMG what happens?!
Can I go to the vault? I didn’t know, and therefore, it’s not fair.
What the hell is going on here… So JGO got overloaded and suddenly no-one started making sense. I DEMAND AN EXPLANATION!
The cats that run the internet have deemed these events necessary.
This forum is an autocracy. Whether you deem it fair, or whether it’s fair in general, does not influence the opinion of your cute fluffy overlord, as it has its own ethics. The handful of members in round #2 will know what sacrifices have to be made, soon. All I can say it that those who retrieved the item in the vault (3 at the moment), should watch JGO on their birthday.
Noted.
The vault? What? The O of JGO? Whaaaaaaaat?
In layman’s terms, Riven is in actuality a cute fluffy overlord cat who created all these events just so he can retrieve his ball of yarn from the vault and play with it with the “lucky” few that accessed it ;D
