Hi, we are looking for javaprogrammers who want to join a new project.
Team name:
Not decided yet.
Project name:
Nova
Brief description:
This game will be a massive strategygame and you play it in your browser. We want this game to be the “second-generation browsergame” (some other well known are utopia and ogame). The game will be built in java, and displayed in an applet and problay an application too (that you can run with webbstart). We are aiming for realtime graphics and faster rounds than other browserbased games but the gameplay will be almost the same. Focus will be on teamplay and warfare and it will be in Space.
What we are doing now:
We are currently working on our designdoc and we show it too anyone who shows interest in this project. If you contact us we send it to you (dont want to post it here). We have also decided to build a “prototype” of the game first, that is going to work as the squeleton of the full featured game. The reason for this is that we want to make sure we finish this game and the best approach we think is to start with a simple demo first go from there.
Compensation:
Nor the game will be free and (probaly) realased as opensource. If we suceed and if it gets popular we have to add some sort of payment from the users or adds (to pay for servers etc). But this is something that we wont discuss now. If you want to learn new stuff, and want to work with other active programmers you should join this project otherwise not.
Technology:
We are using java 5.0 with the standard java2d api.
Talent needed:
Experience in OOP programming and knowledge in the java2d api. You dont have to be a proffesional but you must be active and able to be online a couple of hours each day.
If you have worked with networking in java and have some experience about encryption thats a good thing too.
Team structure:
Currently we are 3 programmers in the team (including me). We have some experince in gameprogramming but this is the first big project for all of us.
Contacts:
If your are looking for a fun and active team to join and you think all this sounds interesting please contact us and we talk more. Also be prepared to have some code of your past work ready to show us.
