New Personal Virtual Reality Headset System – ANTVR KIT

Check out this new home virtual reality system – the ANTVR KIT.
We have a Kickstarter launching May 14th at 9:00am (US Eastern Standard Time).
System lets you plug in to Xbox, Playstation, PC or whatever and use it with any game or movie you want. Has a 3D headset that works with a controller, which can transform to a gun or steering wheel. Video shows what it can do. If you want to get one, you can pledge on the Kickstarter and get an early-bird discount. Feedback and suggestions are most welcome. Should be pretty awesome!

Does this have some kind of Java API?

If this VR-Kit costs less than 400€ and has a working Java-API, you won a potential customer with me.

ANTVR KIT costs about 300 USD. We have JAVA SDK. ;D

Do you have any more info about the Java API? You’re on a Java forum, so that’s probably what most people will be interested in.

That’s ~218 € if anyone’s wondering

Nice! I’m definitely interested in this, staying tuned for the kickstarter.

Our SDK is not finish yet. So I can’t talk more about it. But it is probably very simply as Mouse/Key Event handler process.

Thats ok. I will leave it up to the pros at Oculus and Sony to make good VR headsets. Nice try though :stuck_out_tongue:

Our Kickstarter campaign is up and running. Check out the ANTVR KIT, and if you like what you see, make a pledge and be among the FIRST to own one!

It looks neat. The gun is cool, especially as standard equipment. Converting to a joystick is neat, but the controller looks like it would be flimsy. The English in the video was a bit painful, but I understand you guys wanted the actual team to be in the video. I would have liked to see more about what sets it apart from the Occulus, which is the elephant in the room. Also, I tried an Occulus and instantly wanted to take it off. I couldn’t stand a screen so close to my eyes. I don’t know if this would happen to me on yours, so I have a hard time backing.

I’m at the age where presbyopia kicks in, so it is really hard to focus close up… Are these VR headsets only for kids with young eyes?

Add a power jack that does not need batteries and I am in. 3 hours is just not useful.

This ALONE is almost enough to convince me. xD

EDIT: As much as it saddens me, I would also prefer a power cable. ._.

Why isn’t wireless energy transmission mainstream yet? This is exactly the type of thing to use it for.

Don’t quote me on this, but from what I remember… The further the energy needs to be transmitted the higher the loss of energy. So it’s pretty much only useful for short-distance transmission which cuts out a lot of the customer base (businesses and stuff like that) and so there is less demand for the technology. This causes the cost of production to go up and make using wireless energy more expensive which then stops people from using it.

Hopefully that makes some sense. I tried to remember what I read about this from a thread on Reddit a while back.

Yeah I know, I was mostly being (or attempting to be) rhetorical, although I may not have succeeded at that. Inverse square rule and whatnot ruining your fun.

if you guys have been following Carmacks quotes and Oculus’s talks: Even beside power supple even the video needs a cable
getting that much data, consistently, fast to the headset is just not possible currently without cables.

and the Morpheus is looking very good

You can use the headset with your own glasses. So it can be fitted to most people.

wireless energy transmission will limit the range of your movement. So…

We used Wireless Home Digital Interface(WHDI). You can find the details in this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_Home_Digital_Interface
