Several JOGL users over the past year or so have reported problems with the Intel Integrated Graphics chipset drivers where hardware acceleration would be disabled in some circumstances, most often when running a JOGL applet in Internet Explorer or a JOGL application with a large heap size. Intel just informed us that the most recent release of their drivers has fixed this issue. You can download the new drivers here. Please post if you have any feedback for Intel on the new drivers.
Thanks for the news… Will those new drivers affect the Java2D-OpenGL-pipeline and / or normal GLJPanel behaviour?
One additional question: Did the development of the OpenGL-pipeline stop because of the new DirectX9-based pileline (contained in “Java6 uN”) or will there be further improvements (higher compatibility - especially with intel and newer nvidia cards, overall stability …)?

I hope not! Windows is not the only Java compatible OS
I still have a few issues, as indicated in this thread: http://www.java-gaming.org/forums/index.php?topic=17833.0
Not sure; I haven’t tried them. Hopefully they will only improve the situation.
No, development hasn’t stopped and in fact new work is ongoing in both the D3D and OpenGL pipelines to see if there are other ways of building more robust bridges with third-party libraries such as JOGL.
is it just me or do these new drivers not show up on the intel page anyore?
If we’re just going by the date of the downloads listed, then yeah, there’s nothing there for the month of December. Latest is either April or September, depending on how you read that date.
Yes, I suspect we just weren’t notified until now that these drivers from September actually contain this fix.
