New feature: new host!

Hi folks,

The webhost that JGO was hosted on, suffered from stability issues, to the point where I could not connect to the server. I had no VPS admin interface, so all I could do in such a situation, was to file a ticket and… wait. Especially in the weekends this could take a while, and being billed 100 euro per hour (rounded up to half hours) isn’t pretty.

So 3 hours ago I decided to migrate to Linode, transfer the database and the PHP scripts, mess around with stuff as Debian is not quite CentOS… but as you can see it’s alive and kicking.

Linode has an interface that allows you to reboot & create a terminal without SSH, which will probably be enough to rescue JGO in a timely manner and free of charge.

Enjoy!

The transition seems to have worked out quite well. And my last post just before the downtime didn’t get lost in digital space either.

So… nicely done, I guess:)

Notification emails should work now.

Linode are excellent, it wouldn’t even surprise me if the site ends up feeling a tad faster now.

It’s quite a bit faster actually. My previous host gradually got slower this year.

+1. Big difference actually.
