New Category with Api forums?

i think it would be nice to have a new category with forums for all the major APIs we got: JOGL, JOAL, JInput, LWJGL and Java3D (to keep API questions seperated from general programming).

and perhaps one forum in this category for all the game engines like GAGE or Planetation. (if phpBB allows this there could be sub-forums for each major engine)

Hope many new engines will emerge now that java officially commited to gaming. would be cool to have some concentrated knowledge to compare etc.

Its probably up to the owners of thoses projects to set up their own discussion forums inside their projects… if they just want to link to a section of this forum, GREAT!.

Kev

JInput has a java.net forum.

I think that maybe the individual projects at java.net can set up local forums there for the developers of those APIs, and we can have forums here for the developers USING those APIs.

That’s basically how I plan to work the LWJGL stuff.
LWJGL on the Puppy Games forums is for hardcore LWJGL development and improvements and talk about enhancing the API (which never belonged here really); LWJGL here on JGO is for beginners and general questions and tidbits.

This site need a section which will explain both regulars but most importantly newcomers what all these API can do for them and help them to decide which one to use. Otherwise there’s gonna be same questions popping out again and again.

Agreed. It shall be done! …in just a bit

Maybe that’s the sort of stufff that should go in the Wiki?

We need, and I assume SG already knows this, to work towards better integration between these forums and the gaming community at java.net.

I think it would be best if you never knew which site you were on, java.net or java-gaming.org. So links to the Projects and Wiki topics would be accessible from here.

Yeah a good wiki with list of all engines and for each a list with features and links to proper forums woul do the trick too probably
