Check out this Doom like applet, it’s multiplayer.
I put it on Facebook hoping to get large distribution.

I’m sure there’s room for improvement.
Thanks,

Hi, love the applet, very nice.
However, your controls are a bit off, you register your first press move forwards, then it sort of stops for a bit then carries on. This is the same with all movements.
Its been a while since Ive used AWT so bear with me here. I think its due to the way AWT’s event handling works. I used to have a byte[] array and I used to set the the byte[keyValue] to 1 on keyDown and set it to 0 on keyReleased or the equivilant of those. That got me very smooth movement.
Other than that, top notch! Very nice renderer…

Why can’t i play it without registering for silly facebook?
Yeah the control is poor.
I’d like to be able to press ‘forward’ and then press ‘right’ without letting go of ‘forward’ and for it to turn while going forward. ;D Like a standard FPS game.
Looks cool otherwise. ;D
I don’t want to register for facebook either! - You’d get more players if this wasn’t neccessary.
That’s why I did not try it as well :
Like the previous posts indicate, requiring an facebook account gives you less testers
However I signed up using my spam mail account and tried it out. I really like the multiplayer part and the Doom setting.
Like mentioned before, the controls ruin the gameplay a bit. Responding to multiple key presses at the same time using the technique Darkprophet outlined would be a great improvement. Also on todays computers such a small applet window isnt necesary for performance. Maybe you could offer a different sized / resizable version.
I agree with EgonOlsen. What about rather using Java Webstart or finding a way to allow us to play with it without registrering for facebook?
If you want, you can put your game on www.tuxfamily.org as I have done (it is free and there is no ad) but it is possible only if your game is entirely open source.
You must fix your controls. They are horrible. Otherwise not bad. Though one of the doom creatures looked like he was walking on air.
