A tiny thing, bit it annoys every time - being able to attach .java and .jar files to posts please.
How about:
- Allow Google to index the site (or fix whatever bug is preventing it). It would attract new users searching Google for solutions, and allow fast searches of old posts.
- RSS of the latest posts (it looks like the latest SMF supports it)
- Choice between ninja OR pirate
what about restoring http://community.java.net/games?
AFAIK there is no link on java.net (except the jogl project page) to this forum. java-gaming.org is currently like a secret hacker community, even google ignores this forum
Community driven image of the day + some static links to core technologies like the darkstar banner, jogl… and maybe a recent forum posts aggregator should be enough to fill the page.
I get the following error when I try to mark all topics in a forum as read
“Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again.”
If I want to get rid of the “new” I have to visit each topic in turn.

Can we get some simpler themes please, I’m not sure that I need an inch of wasted space on either side of the screen, or for each post to rest on a smooth reflective surface.
I agree with bleb - all too much fancy theme, and too low-contrast text. A set of themes to choose from would be nice, but it would do just as well to go back to having a bright, perhaps somewhat more minimalistic theme. Apart from that it’s looking good - I like, for example, the headers saying which posts are sticky and which are not.
Working on the theme issue. Just had to get the move done yesterday for a bunch of reasons, but will work on getting the theme fixed up. In the meantime, post any additional comments/suggestions here. Thanks!
Any chance of getting the “new” icon to show up at the beginning of the subject line for topics instead of the end?
Some parts of the theme I like (the colours are fairly nice), some I very much so dislike (very limited post-body space)
When trying to change my avatar by uploading a jpeg I got:
An Error Has Occurred!
The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved.
It is a bit harder to read and the ‘insert quote’, formatting and smiley buttons don’t seem to work…
I can’t upload my avatar either - ho-hum, teething troubles!

Just seen new forums. First impression wasnt good (sorry to say, but best to be honest). All the colours seem too similar and not too keen on the dark grey theme (the last forums were loads easier on the eyes with the lighter grey colours). And a few other little things e.g. I prefer seeing ‘todays’ posts a bit more distinctive (i.e. “today” is now white and bold… previously was bold/black on a light grey background so easier to spot). When replying to a message it wasnt clear also… No reply button, just 4 icons with no tooltip/description.
Anyway, am sure most of this should be quite easy to change in the .css. Anyway, I appreciate the work put into this so hope am not too harsh.

i like the new logo, but like others said there is a ton of wasted space with this theme, id prefer one with less scrolling required.
