Thanks for the stack trace. It’s pretty obvious what the problem is from that.
I’m still getting that same weird error… I’ve never had any problem running .jnlp’s before. I can still run others just fine. I’ve tried clearing my cache and going again but I still get the same error

Hmmm…no one else has had that problem
What version of Java ar you running? What OS?
The game looks great, no stuttering here. Fullscreen didn’t work though, my monitor probably doesn’t support the refresh rate you chose at that resolution. I got from 160-170 for the FPS most of the time and a steady 62 for the engine rate. I’ve got a geforcefx 5200, windows xp, AMD64 2800+, 768 megs of ram, ran it windowed.

Wow, sounds like your machine should be the recommended configruation! (Except the monitor ;))
Any Mac or Linux users out there that could give it a try? I have no idea how this runs on either of those platforms.
Thank you to all the testers!
Windows XP Pro, SP2, Java 1.5.0_01.
I’ma try a full wipe of my webstart cache.
Nope that didn’t work either.
I saved the .jnlp to my desktop and then ran it, that worked
I got about 9fps the whole time I played. I blew up one guy, then started messing with buttons. Aparantly that was a bad idea because after hitting some keys in the qwas range or nearabouts I got the game to crash. Checking the log just uncovered this:
<record>
<date>2005-03-13T20:05:59</date>
<millis>1110762359937</millis>
<sequence>17</sequence>

<class>com.sun.deploy.util.LoggerTraceListener</class>
<method>print</method>
<thread>10</thread>
<message>#### java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
</message>
</record>
I hope that’s enough for you to go on!
got this, webstart begins then a con not run window…
An error occurred while launching/running the application.
Category: Invalid Argument Error
Could not load file/URL specified: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\RGBFAG5S\Exigent_window[1].jnlp
got this for both links. ATI 9600 all in wonder

I don’t think you crashed it, I think you hit “X”, which will close it
9 FPS though…wow, that’s pretty bad. Was that the fullscreen or windowed? What kind of hardware?

Try what Malohkan did, save it to desktop and see if it works…unless anyone else knows what causes this error.
nice looking game although it doesnt’ run well enough on my beast to be enjoyable - i got a wopping 3-4 fps for both engine and gfx. win xp, 2.4ghz, 512 ram, ati 7500 64mb, windowed mode
I got about 134 fps on
Athalon 2400.
Radeon 9800 Pro 128 Mb
1Gb Memory
It ran very smoothly I just found it incredibly difficult to control, I’m not sure why. Looks good though.
Regards,
Dan.
Nice! Space shooters are fun. =)
It played very well and very smooth. Didn’t have a chance to check the fps as my boss showed up.
Are you rotating the ship using euler angles? There seems to be some gimbal lock in some situations. (face the ship straight “up”, and try to turn sideways)
You could look into quaternions for a way of fixing this:
http://www.gamedev.net/reference/articles/article1095.asp
How about adding a “mouse cursor” thing to the hud so you can see how much you’re turning the ship?
Thanks for testing! Glad you like it.
There are definetly a few issues with the controls. Gimbal lock being one of them Not being able to see where the relative center point is (so you can stablize your ship), is another. No worries though, these will all be worked out in the end.
I still have about 11 months remaining on my schedule before I am overdue. To be honest though, I am running a bit behind due to my day job sucking the life out of me, but I am still pushing ahead.
works great, amd 3000+ 1gb ram, geforece 4mx, suse 9.2, about 85fps - 114fps, java 1.6 (mustang).
as for render engine fps its going mad so its hard to see what the values are!
can’t wait for the final game, i’m a big fan of space shooters (ala freespace 2), keep up the good work

Nice, a Linux test
Hmm, I was afraid that might happen on Linux because of the green threads. The final version will allow you to run the game without threading, so it shouldn’t be a problem for Linux users, though performance will take a hit. How did it run though? Did the timing seem off? Collor cycle animations running irratically, ships irratic, movement jumpy, etc?
Thanks, I’ll do my best
Still no word from Mac users…anyone out there willing to give it a run?
Did a quick test of windowed mode on MacOsX 10.3.8, 733Mhz G4
Just get a black window showing FPS:1 and VERTS:0 :-/

Must have been an exception. I’ll need to add logging :-/
I got the black death on my mac as well.
PowerBook G4, 512Meg Ram, OS 10.3.8, ATI with 128 Meg of Ram.

Fullscreen, Intel Extreme Graphics 2 card. I typically have 60+ fps on all games I play on this forum though.
