Nanotron on Vista?

I have posted the final demo of Nanotron at http://www.orbitalcows.com/downloads/nanotrondemosetup.exe .

We are about to make the game available for sale, and the artist’s computer with Windows Vista was stolen. As such, we have no way to test it on Vista. Could someone with Windows Vista please test the demo just to make sure that it still runs?

Also, if you click on the “Buy Nanotron” button in the game, it should minimize the game and send your web browser to our website. It works on Windows XP, but I’m a little bit wary of it because it uses a .dll from JDIC. For all I know, it might not work on Windows Vista. The rest of the game should work, but I’d like to be certain before I start submitting the game to portals.

Thank you in advance.

During browser shell-out, the screen resolution isn’t restored to the desktop default.

It’s strange that occurs on Vista. It doesn’t occur on XP for me. Maybe it’s a video card issue.

Does the problem also occur when you minimize the game in other ways (e.g. by hitting the Windows key)?

Would you try replacing the nanotron.jar file (in the folder you installed the game into) with http://www.orbitalcows.com/downloads/nanotron.jar ? This should cause the game to switch out of full screen mode when minimizing and back to full screen mode (if it’s in full screen mode at all) when being restored. If it works, I will update the demo.

The .exe setup file now includes the specified .jar file. I still don’t know whether it works now or not.

Runs fine here (Windows Vista 32bit, Core2 Duo @ 3Ghz, Radeon HD2900XT). Works even in windowed mode with Aero enabled. However, i can’t find the “buy”-button to click… ???

Did you test the jar under Linux?

I received other reports that pressing the buy button caused the game to minimize without setting the screen mode back to the default. My fix for it evidently didn’t work. Honestly, I don’t know what is causing the problem because it doesn’t happen on my computer. I can’t just leave it like that though.

So I just removed the buy button. It’s kind of lame to have a shareware game without a buy button in the game, but it’s better than having the screen get displayed wrong.

I suppose I should have posted another post here right after I removed the buy button, but somehow I didn’t think of it.

I think I will try having a window pop up after the splash screen and before the game starts. This window will have buy and play buttons so that you can open up the browser without having to minimize a full-screen window.

I didn’t test the jar under Linux. I would like to create a Linux version of Nanotron, but that doesn’t seem as important as some of the problems I’m having right now.
