My first game...

http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~thomassl/bin/web/webstart2.jnlp - Super Bob…

This is FAR from finished, I just want to know if the scrolling is smooth on other machines… and if it starts at all =)

Graphics are ripped from supermario (except bob), but I will make my own soon =)

Couldnt get it started:

Unsigned application requesting unrestricted access to system
Unsigned resource: http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~thomassl/bin/j3dutils.jar

You need to sign all (two) jar-files

my first try with webstart… :-[ I think it will work now if you have java3d installed…

the jar:
http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~thomassl/bin/SuperSpillet.jar

added this:

to the resources tag… does it work now (even if java3d is not installed) ?

Works fine here.
I like the happy clouds, the hero and the beer.
And the friendly collision detection.

Nothing installed before, xp, 9200se

Works fine for me, except one spot I got alot of slow down, but it picked up against once I was passed there.

I love the beer thing. Infact it gave me an idea of what you could do with this game.

Collect beer to get health or strength when fighting the baddies (once you put baddies in)…BUT…it makes your character harder to control the more drunk he is. That would be a neat twist for the game. Part of the skill could be adjusting to how drunk he is. The player would have to decide just how drunk he needs to be to fight the bad guys, without being so drunk he can’t be controlled.

hehe, that’s a good idea  Have you seen Drunken master with Bruce Lee?

Gray screen for me :frowning:
amd1500+, gf5200, java 1.5.0_02 on kubuntu linux

cool! Works just fine and is very smooth on my machine:
Win XP SP2, 2ghz Celeron, Java 1.5.0_02

Webstart works fine well now. Game worked very well, but I also found that the game was a bit sluggish, and it didn’t seem to be following the FPS. That made it a little bit difficult to handle, but itherwise nice feel to it. Saw some gfx buggs? Some black and pink square floating around. And mouse cursor visible was a bit annoying.

~ 50 fps on my old 800MHz mashine.

Nice start.

Works fine for me, but I see some artefacts on the backgound. Some black and purple squares on it, and someone’s tagged one of the mouintains.

Fin bakgrunn.

Oh, and there’s a really marked drop in framerate when a lot of “ground” is onscreen (in tunnel-like areas and on inclines).

Bra jobb.

the graphic artifacts is just because of my unfinished graphics… I’m also planning to rewrite the main loop, now it is set to max 60 fps… The speed of the game depends on the fps, think I have to introduce time (delta) or something…

f.l.x: do you have java3d installed?

nup, i don’t… ::slight_smile:

I experience a lot of flickering like bad double buffering.

1.0Ghz, Riva TNT2, Windows XP (No, thats not a good machine, getting a new laptop in a week :))

Just got a black screen

WinXP, jre 1.5, GF4 Ti4200, no j3d installed.

works fine, but I can’t go back - just vorward.
Is it supposed to be like that?

  • you should add something when you get killed - it sucks that you have to restart the game when you die.

i just get a grey screen, SUSE, JRE 1.5 (5.0) update 2, geforce4mx

The starting was smooth and the initial game play was also good…will give you more comments after a good play…

I played your game for sometime and sometimes i cudnt go back to if the screen has scrolled some distance so i cudn’t collect some of the beer bottles.
The jump was not consistent always…
the animation of the char to be improved.
